Welcome to John Bellemer Voice Over. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m currently engaged in a career as an internationally acclaimed operatic tenor, having performed on stages with orchestras and opera companies around the world. My passion has been live performance of the most beautiful and beloved operas written – as well as other classical works – on the stages of some of the most iconic theaters around the world. All of this in front of as many as tens of thousands, and as few as ten, passionate spectators in attendance.
When live performing arts took a lengthy hiatus in early 2020, I thought it would be the perfect time to pursue something that had always sparked my interest – the world of voice over artistry. As a singer, I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the best vocal coaches and teachers throughout my career, enabling me to continue to learn and grow as an artist. This discipline has made the transition to continued vocal coaching and studying, with emphasis now on the spoken word, practically seamless. I’ve embraced this transition, and in the midst of the process of adding voice acting to my resume, I’ve been able to construct a home recording studio from which to work. The contrast between singing at Teatro San Carlo di Napoli and standing solo, donning a pair of headphones in front of a microphone, in a converted walk-in closet in Brooklyn, is quite stark. However, it is just as fulfilling and enjoyable for me as an artist.
My speaking voice has been described as natural, articulate, friendly, consistent, dynamic, warm, resonant, big, expressive, clarion, luxurious, powerful, friendly, regular guy, everyman, dad, trained, and marketable (sounds a bit like the Scout’s motto I memorized so many years ago). Fortunately, many of these words have been used over the years in reviews of my singing as well.
I invite you to listen to my demos here – all provided for your consideration. I also invite you to the other page of this site which is dedicated to my singing career. I hope you enjoy!
Reviews
Teatro Grattacielo came up with an attractive pair of romantic leads, both musical of phrase and instinct. John Bellemer sang gracefully, able to let his tenor ring but reaping especial dividends from dynamic restraint.
